About the Scholarship
The Coach Max Heinl Scholarship Fund recognizes graduating seniors from Springfield Local High School (Class of 2026) who embody the values Coach Heinl brought to the classroom and the field: work ethic, integrity, teamwork, and service.
- Affiliation: Must be involved in at least one school activity (athletics, clubs, band/arts, academic groups, or recognized service/work program)
- GPA: Required. No minimum GPA; applicants must be in good standing.
- Announcement: Presented at the Springfield awards ceremony
Selection Criteria
- Character & Service: Shows integrity and helps others without needing the spotlight.
- Effort & Resilience: Demonstrates steady effort and bounce-back attitude.
- Contribution to Team/Community: Active in at least one school‑affiliated activity or recognized work/service program.
- Future Plan: Any post‑secondary path (college, trade, military, workforce).
Transcripts are optional. A teacher/coach reference is encouraged.

When is the deadline?
Applications are due by March 1 at 11:59 PM ET.
Who can apply?
Graduating seniors (Class of 2026) at Springfield Local High School in good standing, active in at least one school‑affiliated activity. No minimum GPA is required.
How are recipients selected?
A small committee reviews each application holistically with emphasis on character, service, contribution to team/community, and the "Beyond the Scoreboard" essay.
